Adele Mara..............Born Adelaide Delgado in 1925 Spanish-American Adele Mara was a singer/dancer with Xavier Cugat and His Orchestra in Detroit by the age of 15. Cugat brought this gorgeous brunette beauty on a trip to New York in 1942, after which a Columbia talent agent took her on. She starred as fast-paced lead women in several low-quality B-movies. These included Vengeance of the West with Tex Ritter (1942), and Alias Blackie (1942), starring Chester Morris. She was transformed a few years later to a hot platinum blonde pin-up after she signed up with Republic Studios. She kept herself quite active there, mostly appearing as senorita-types opposite cowboy stars Roy Rogers in Bells of Rosarita (1945) and Gene Autry in Twilight on the Rio Grande (1947). Blackmail, Web of Danger and Wake of the Red Witch together with John Wayne were also good selections. Angel In Exile (1998) and Sands of Iwo Jima (1999), both of which were starring Duke Wayne, were arguably her best two performances. There was a time when she got the chance to showcase her acting talents, but her film career was beginning to decline during the 1950s. The Big Circus (1959) featuring Victor Mature was her final appearance. Adele later moved to TV and was featured in a variety of guest roles, predominantly in Westerns. Then, Adele decided to have children following her wedding to Roy Huggins. Huggins produced many popular shows such as 77 Sunset Strip (in 1958) as well as Maverick. In her role as a guest, she appeared on many of the shows. Three boys have been born to this couple. Huggins passed away in 2002.
