Pickler's childhood was a rocky one. As a young girl her mother fled in order to escape an abusive relationship. She came back into Pickler's world in 1995 when she took custody of her. It didn't work out as planned. When she turned 12, the judge returned Pickler to her grandparents - whom she grew up with. Pickler had to be busy with her young children in absence of her parents. Pickler said she had no time for study, she decided to master cooking and clean at an early stage. Pickler was on the teams that cheered for both high school and middle school. Pickler graduated in 2004 at North Stanly High School. Pickler tried out her luck in the world of beauty contests. The name she was given was Miss Stanly County.
